Over the course of their individual careers, each member of this team has spent years serving children and families. This team believes they were serendipitously brought together because of their passion for healing and helping children. They are master’s level clinicians, executives, and people who care deeply about children. They are proud of the work they do and the work family they have become.
Barry Levinson - CEO - Charis Behavioral Health

Barry Levinson

Barry has been very happily married to his wife, Katrina, for 33 years. They have 3 children, one Baylor Bear and 2 Aggies (but, sadly, no Longhorns!).

Barry has a BS degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from UT Austin and he has been an entrepreneur since 1986. He started his first company, XL International, Inc., upon graduation from UT. His consulting client list included large petrochemical companies like Texaco, Arco, Union Carbide, Amoco, Alcoa, AEP and others. From 1998 to 2001, he consulted with Mental Health Network (MHNET), a carve out mental health provider for health plans.

In 2002, he had the great pleasure of starting a small clinic in Austin for disadvantaged kids on Medicaid. By 2014 when he sold to his partner, they had developed 21 clinics seeing over 175,000 patient visits for pediatric medical, pediatric dental, orthodontics, physical, occupational, speech therapy and mental health. They were very proud to be named one of the highest quality large Medicaid practices in Texas by the largest Medicaid insurance company in the country.

In late 2014, Barry was invited to join Tyler Technologies, the largest software company in the world focused on the public sector. Barry is fluent in Spanish and speaks passable Portuguese and was named Vice President, Latin America, for the Courts and Justice Division, Barry was honored to spend the next two and a half years working with Supreme Court justices and high-level justice officials all over the region. During that time he became a catalyst at Tyler to build a pro-bono software tool in what is now used by governments around the world to help them count, track and ultimately find forever homes for the millions of children who live in institutions. Tyler partners with Both Ends Believing to carry out this important mission.

In 2018, Barry became President and CEO of Accelerated Fleet Services, a leading provider of mechanical services to large regional and national trucking fleets.

Charis Behavioral Health wasn’t something Barry ever planned on, but felt called to do. At this time in Barry’s life, he felt strongly about continuing to help children and specifically those impacted by mental health struggles. Barry was introduced to Angel and Kyle by his sister Cherilyn, and they all have been like family ever since. Barry plans to have a profound and measurable impact on the mental health and well being of our youth, just like he had on patients at Carousel.

If you come by and meet Barry, expect to hear a dad joke or a proverb that is just right for the day or situation. Charis is thrilled to be under his leadership and proud to carry out his vision.

Angel Logan - Executive Director - Charis Behavioral Health

Angel Logan, LPC

Executive Director

Angel is a Licensed Professional Counselor with the State of Texas. She completed her undergraduate studies at Louisiana State University.

As a double major, she received her Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences and Psychology in 2008. Following graduation, she and her husband moved to Texas to be closer to her family. She immediately began pursuing a career focused on helping children and families achieve mental and emotional well-being. This began with her employment at Catholic Charities as a Child Care Specialist. After several years in this role, Angel wanted to play a larger role in serving this specific population so she joined the Texas Department of Child and Family Services. In her role as a Child Protective Services Investigator, she investigated allegations of abuse and neglect and provided social work services for children and families.

Angel attended Tarleton State University where she earned a Master of Science in Counseling Psychology. It was around this time that she also began employment as a community liaison for a child and adolescent Partial Hospitalization Program. Her gifts didn’t go unnoticed and Angel was offered an opportunity as Assistant Clinic Director at a psychiatric office that provided psychiatric and substance use services to children, adults, and seniors.  She worked in a business development role as a Territory Manager for an addiction treatment center providing support for families and professionals as a liaison for the facility. Angel has also worked as a therapist in the intake department of a behavioral health hospital where she offered assessments for children in need of behavioral health services.

Angel is thrilled to put into practice the culmination of her career experience as the Executive Director of Charis Behavioral Health. Many times Angel has said serving kids is what she was born to do. If you come by, you may find her with her shoes off, sitting on the floor helping a child regulate, playing uno with the kids or just helping her staff. If you can’t find her, just give it a minute and listen for her big, infectious laugh.

During her time as an office manager, she was responsible for leading a team of three nurse practitioners, one psychiatrist, four medical assistants, and three licensed professional counselors.

Her efforts didn’t go unnoticed and it wasn’t long before she was recruited by another psychiatric practice.
